That's the only to describe Saturday morning at the Classic. The winds were fairly calm this morning when the day's first flight of anglers launched. But since then, they've picked up and are now approaching gale force! It may be having some effect on those guys out on the lake today. Last year's top team, led by Terry Scroggins had a total weight topping 200 lbs. This year, Scroggins finds himself again in the lead, but after nearly 12 hours on the lake, his team has only (only?!?) accumulated 97 pounds of bass. Still whopping for most lakes but only average for Lake Fork.
At the KMOO tent, fishing tour t-shirts are flying in the breeze but still a hot item. And photos with the KMOO Lunker are more popular with ever!

First day draws to a close

It's been wild and wooly, but the first day of the second Bass Classic is quickly drawing to a close. Leaders Dave Wolak and Mike McClelland had a tremendous morning as their limit wieghed in at nearly 60 lbs. However, last years winning team captain Terry Scroggins is closing in quickly as the second half of Wolak's team has struggled this afternoon. Scoggins' team had pulled to within seven pounds of the first place.

More importantly, the sun has finally come out drying out the ground and warming up the afternoon. Last night's storms were nearly a repeat of last year's monsoon (or what seemed like it) whic literally brought a tornado across the lake in the middle of the night. Perhaps it is going to be a stable at the classic?!?

But the most popular part of the classic is definately the KMOO tent where visitors who find a "Cow-Duck" can win big. And for a $5 donation to Children's Miracle Network, visitors can get thier own photo with the tournament's biggest bass!

We'll be here until 5:30 p.m. tonight and then from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. tomorrow and from noon - 5 p.m on Sunday.
